Driving the Circular Food Transition
CIRCULANDIA brings together cities, regions, businesses, researchers and civil-societyorganisations to demonstrate how circular food systems can support climate neutrality, biodiversity, resource efficiency and regional resilience.
By connecting regenerative agriculture, circular nutrient management, local food systems and reusable packaging, the project creates practical solutions that help transform the way food is produced, distributed, consumed and reused across Europe.
A Systemic Approach to Change
Rather than addressing food-system challenges separately, CIRCULANDIA takes a systemic and holistic approach. The project brings together actors from across value chains to create stronger connections between urban and rural areas, producers and consumers, public authorities and businesses.
Through real-life demonstrations and replication activities, the project develops solutions that can be adopted by other regions and adapted to local circumstances.
Demonstration activities take place in Helsinki-Uusimaa, Freiburg and Manacor, while
replication and multiplier regions help transfer knowledge and accelerate adoption
throughout Europe.

Seven interconnected work packages drive CIRCULANDIA’s activities
The CIRCULANDIA project is structured around seven interconnected work packages that translate the project’s vision into practical actions. Through collaboration between cities, regions, researchers, businesses, and civil society organisations, the work packages will develop and test circular solutions, engage stakeholders, assess impacts, and support the replication of successful approaches across Europe.

Work Package 3
Regenerative Farming & Circular Nutrients
Food-system transformation starts in the soil. WP3 demonstrates how regenerative agriculture can improve soil health, strengthen biodiversity, increase climate resilience and support long-term agricultural productivity. A central ambition is to reconnect urban and rural resource flows through circular nutrient solutions.
Expected Impact
Healthier soils, improved nutrient efficiency, stronger biodiversity outcomes and scalable regenerative-farming practices.

WP4 strengthens regional food resilience by creating stronger connections between producers, consumers, municipalities and businesses through food hubs, procurement innovation and urban food-production initiatives.
