CIRCULANDIA
circular systemic solutions for food, nutrients, and packaging in European cities and regions
Our goals
CIRCULANDIA, an EU-funded project, disrupts and transforms the current food
systems by fusing regenerative farming, circular nutrients, local food production &
consumption, and reusable packaging into a holistic urban-rural ecosystem.
We aim to create a circular and resilient urban–rural ecosystem that mitigates
climate change by integrating three interlinked value chains:

Regenerative agriculture

Local food production and distribution

Reusable takeaway packaging
Key result in agriculture:
a 15–20% reduction in GHG
emissions compared to conventional practices.
Key project result:
project demonstrations contribute to GHG emission reductions through urban food production and by reducing food waste and food loss.
From European initiatives to local implementation
Rather than optimizing individual parts of food value chains, CIRCULANDIA takes a holistic approach that transforms linear systems into circular ones, reducing resource use, waste, and environmental impact across the entire food system. Through public procurement and governance, the project strengthens local food production and consumption, shortens supply chains, reduces unnecessary packaging and transport emissions, and supports the European Green Deal and the Circular Cities and Regions Initiative (CCRI).
